Hey my sweets. It’s been far far far too long.  Please forgive my absence. I’m going to have to ease back into the 5 day a week posts.  I’m still looking for writers as I type.  I am going to commit to doing a few posts a week.  My plate is overflowing at the moment. I’ve taken on a massive new duty as of late and I’m sharpening up some new selling tools and techniques.  The Lord knows I’m a working girl!  Just let me do what I love and it’s like I never stop working ;-).  I’m in the midst of finding some balance (per usual).

And there’s no place to inspire a crazy girl like me, like NYC.  One of my closest friends Robin Hereford and her husband, Darrius Hereford visited the city for the first time recently and I could feel the city’s energy through them the whole time they were there.  I made them a cute little “IndiasWorld’s Itinerary” of some of my favorite spots and they even picked up one of my all time favorites (Tillman’s) from my good friend Michael Clark.   They wore themselves out.

There ain’t no place like New York in the Summer.  Free concerts galore! And what piqued my interest is that The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin is performing FOR FREE at WINGATE PARK on August 9th.  And the entire series is sizzling hot (that’s right sizzling).  Wingate Park is in the hood (but don’t let that stop you).  It is always a peaceful fun filled evening.  The concerts are every Monday starting today at 7:30. Kicking off the series is George Clinton, Parliment/Funkadelic, and The Ohio Players and ends on August 23 with Sean Paul and The King of Calypso, Mighty Sparrow. Wingate Field is on Brooklyn Avenue b/t Rutland Road and Winthrop Street. For more information visit: www.brooklynconcerts.com. Enjoy!!!

Govino Wine Glasses

Here’s a toast to the summer!  Hope you all are well. Please pardon my absence.  I’m developing a solid editorial schedule and that will help me with more frequent posts.  I’m also still looking for writers/interns to assist with content and edit. Please forward all inquiries to press@indias-world.com.

I’m always looking for inspiration to make India’s World happen.  I came across these lovely wine glasses within the past week and they made my design bell go off (lol).  They are shatterproof, reusable, recyclable, and very cute.  I’m very much in like with the thumb notch.  Price point here is $13.99 for a 4 pack.  They are excellent for outdoor dining/entertaining and are available at St. Louis Cellars in The Lou. Check www.saintlouiscellars.com for more information and contact.  Enjoy!!!

Khaki with Lots of Flava

Happy Hump Day Guys!!! I trust everyone survived the Memorial Holiday Weekend?  I had a wonderful weekend hanging out with friends.  I checked SATC2 and I liked it.  Also, felt a little more motivated than usual after seeing it (go figure).  I see how they worked a lot more diversity in the film.  That was fine, but I want some on air, speaking (character like) representation!!!  Then I would love love love everything!

The beautiful pics above appeared in The New York Times as a photo spread entitled Khaki with an Urban Edge (on May 21, 2010.  The top model is 20 year old Sierra Leone born, Salieu Jalloh.  He has a very fresh (drop dead gorgeous) look.  And the clothes are to die for!  I like to see men and young boys in khaki.  It always gives off a little sophistication without trying too hard.  The last model is 25 year old Brazilian born, Evandro Soldati.  His look is also fresh and naturally urban looking (without trying too hard).  For designer/photo credits and the original editorial: http://tinyurl.com/2aqqjnu .  Enjoy!!!

TGIF!!! Yea, not only is it Friday, but this is THE weekend that kicks off the summer (forget what ya heard)!  I know for many of you that Summer Fridays start today!  For those of you in the publishing industry: it’s great for the folks on the agency side and what not!  but things can get tricky, slow, and just plain quiet on the sales side.  All, I can say is, you better enjoy!!!  Lord knows that I will work an extra couple hours a day just to enjoy a little peace on Summer Friday afternoons!!!

I think one piece swimsuits are getting waay sexy!  With the onset of Summer, I’m thinking, I’m getting a couple of suits this year.  I don’t care how much I’m not ready (but, I’m working on it!!!).  The suits above are all from www.bergdorfgoodman.com.  They have the most adorable swimwear department!  They are not cheap!  But, trust, if you can make it happen, they got it for ya!!!  The colors are bright and the prints are bold (as they should be for fun in the sun).

Here’s to making this Summer count!!! I’m so excited.

Enjoy!!!

Mexico State Dinner Looks

The President and Mrs. Barack Obama (in Peter Soronen)

Eva Longoria-Parker (in Reem Acra)

Gayle King (in Carmen Marc Valvo) & Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker

Whoopi Goldberg & Thomas Leonardis

Happy Happy Thursday!  Hope your week has flown by.  I’m under the gun with lots of good stuff and a couple of deadlines as I type.  In fact, I need to finish this post in like 10 minutes.  Being busy actually excites me.  I do my best work when I get under the gun.

Anywho, The White House was full of excitement last night as the First Lady and The President held a State Dinner in honor of the President of Mexico.  Lots of folks came out and looked divine. I pulled a few looks that I liked. Orange was the color of the evening for several of the guests.  Surprise couple of the evening:  Gayle King and Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker.  Oh, Whoopi’s date was very cute too.  I must research him because you know me: gotta know who’s who and what’s what.  Enjoy!

House of Dereon Bed Linens

Hello guys!  Hope you are well. I’m good.  Did a power walk this morning, trying to get my mind right, as I assume the rest will follow.  The sun is out in The Lou (for a change).

I’m forever in home decorating mode.  I’m in like with The House of Dereon line so far.  The House of Dereon is the home of Beyonce & her mom’s clothing line that has now expanded to include Bed Linens.  There are actually two lines: The House of Dereon and Dereon.  The House targets the master bedroom and Dereon targets the 15-30 year old set (it has more patterns and what not).  Price point is $149.99-$199 for The House and $49-$99 for Dereon.  Enjoy!!!!

Nikko Smith

Happy Monday!  What’s going on in your world?  Things are cool on my side.  I could do with a lot less rain.  I think it has rained here everyday for the past week.  But it’s all good for me because one of my favorite places to be is at home.

Nikko Smith is hitting the stage in The Lou on Wednesday, May 19th as a part of The Laclede Gas Parties on The Plaza.  Nikko Smith (which I didn’t know was Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith’s son), is a 28 year old R&B/Pop songwriter and singer.  Parties on the Plaza is a monthly concert series that takes place downtown at the Old Post Office Plaza between 5pm-8pm.  The concerts kick off with Nikko Smith May 19th and end September 15th with Groovethang.  For more information check www.downtownstl.org/events. Enjoy!!!

SHE’VA Couture Tee’s

Happy Thursday all! Hope you guys are in the highest of spirit.  I’m good this week trying to stay focused and on task (per usual).  The weather has been pretty interesting in The Lou.  It’s been everything from hot to chilly this week, and then we just had a pretty big storm.  I’m sure all the rose bushes and plant life are in good shape for a good minute.

This Saturday, May 15, 2010,  marks the kick off of She’Va Couture Tee’s.  I’m looking forward to seeing this line up close and personal at the official launch party.  The handmade and way creative line of tees is the brainchild of Cassandra Castellanos. Hand embroidery, hand stiching, beading, sew & serge are some of the techniques used to design her collection.  According to the St. Louis native and designer behind the brand,”She’Va celebrates the essence of the WOMAN, the status of the DIVA, and the LEGACY of the EVERYDAY SHEROES”.  The creativeness and just the overtop fashion themes have me at hello.  The price point for the line is yet to be revealed.  The launch party is going down this Saturday at The Artbar, located at 3221 Olive (next door to Dante’s).  Admission is $10 and will feature a preview of the line, appetizers, and door prizes as well.  For more information visit: http://tinyurl.com/3ykjqkn or email: shevafemmecouture@sbcglobal.net.  Enjoy!!!
