Happy Monday guys!  Hope all is well on your end.  I’m moving in the right direction on so many levels (and you know that makes me a happy camper).  I think we’ve got a little bit of a reality check weather wise in The Lou.  We are now at a more normal temperature which is great.  Hope you guys aren’t suffering from allergy season too much.  My oldest, is really feeling it.  And rolling around in grass is not good for allergy sufferers.

Anywho, clogs are really making a comeback this spring.  They can be found at every price point.  The one’s above are from www.saks.com.  They are cute (if I say so myself).  They also also offer a bit of comfort and support.  I remember trying to wear Dr. Scholl’s clogs as a kid.  I wonder if they are still around?  If you are sporting clogs, let me know.  I’m definitely on the look for some.  Have a great week and happy shopping!!!

Happy Thursday ya’ll!  The weather in St. Louis is still very beach like.  And I’m still imagining the beach (lol).  Hope all is good in your world.  I’m in a decent head space right now (and that’s always a good thing).

Malaak Compton-Rock (Howard University Alum and wife of comedian Chris Rock), appeared on Oprah a couple of days ago, stressing the importance of giving back to those that are less fortunate.  She spoke a lot about how we must do our part to make this world a better place.  Malaak has written a book, If It Takes a Village Build One, as well, detailing her experiences of adopting some inner city kids from Brooklyn and taking 30 of them to  South Africa and back (as detailed in her CNN special).  She’s doing some amazing work.

Since we all like to shop, it’s even a greater feeling to buy things that also give back at the same time.  Above are several of Malaak’s favorite things that offer a certain percentage back to The Global AIDS Fund, a fair wage to the women and men that help produce the items, etc.  These gifts truly give back.  For more information on the above items, do visit the perspective websites and also check out http://tinyurl.com/yyhjj2k. Enjoy!!!!

Happy Tuesday all! I swear, it’s starting to feel a lot like Summer in The Lou.  We got straight 80 degree type of weather going on for like a week and a half straight.  I’m not complaining, because it’s not as hot as it could be.  The humidity level is still very good and rather comfortable.  I’m ready to go straight to flip flops as in the beach or something.

Above are just some very cute looks I found while checking out Bergdorf’s.  They always have the cutest everything and are definitely worth the check.  For more information or just to check out their offerings see: www.bergdorfgoodman.com.  Enjoy!!!!

Music Fan/Man First: Eric Roberson

Happy Monday for the most part!  Hope you guys are in high spirits this 2nd week of April 2010.  I’m strumming along per usual.  Postively, the weather is gorgeous in The Lou.  I mean, I’m sitting on my back porch and admiring the tulips that have sprouted and trying to pull it together.

Got the best news from @Nicoleinc:  Eric Roberson will be hitting the stage this Friday in The Lou at Exo (still my favorite night spot in The Lou)!!!!  What can I say about Eric besides he’s a supertalented neo-soul artist, a member of the HU fam (yes, yes ya’ll), and works hard man. For many of the same reasons that I love Ledisi and E.Badu, I love him too.  He brings nothing but the best love & life music.  And I think he’s probably the best ad libber (he can make it up as he goes along) I’ve witnessed. So without a doubt people, I will be up in the spot to get my inspiration on love and life.  It’s going down at Exo this Friday starting at 8pm with DJ Reminise on the 1’s & 2’s.  Price point here is: get there before 10 and you won’t have to worry about it.  Exo is located at 3146 Locust St. in the heart of mid-town St. Louis.  Check Eric at www.myspace.com/ericroberson Enjoy!!!

Sex & The City Part 2

I can’t wait to see this movie and why you ask?  Because it’s so New York (and boy am I jonesing for NYC)!  They have me at hello with the theme song: New York State of Mind.  They also have me at hello with all the fashion, decadence, and the kids. Only one thing, I hope that they put some flava up in the mix. New York is just not New York without some flava (diversity). The movie opens May 28, 2010. I guess I know at least 1 thing I’ll be doing to kick off the summer. For more information check www.sexandthecitymovie.org.  Have the best weekend!!!

The Return of The Ankh:New Amerykah Part 2

Happy April Fool’s Day! Can you believe that Quarter 1 of 2010 is done, out of here, on to the next??!!! I think my life is caught up in a whirlwind and the years are really starting to fly by.  I gotta breathe, focus, accomplish.

Erykah Badu is one of the reasons I love artists and music in all of it’s many facets. Originality and raw talent trumps all. Her highly anticipated Part II: New Amerykah: The Return of the Ankh (Love) dropped March 30, 2010.  Yes, I was on of the first at Target to cop it.

Erykah has returned to her roots.  This CD brings her back to all her glory.  Not that she fell off, Part I of New Amerykah was heady, smart, and way over lots of people heads.  As most of us know, it’s hard being conscience and commercial at the same time.

I’m in total like with New Amerykah Part II (can’t stop playing it).  The new cd boasts 11 hot tracks and Ms. Badu covers the gamut of love and life that we have grown accustomed to.  Highlights for me are #2 Window Seat, #4 Turn Me Away (Get Munny),#5 Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long, #6 Umm Hmm, #7 Love (hidden joint dedicated to late songwriter J. Dilla), #9 Fall in Love, #10 Incense and #11 Out My Mind Just in Time.  This cd is a must!!! You can get yours at your local music retailer.  Check www.erykah-badu.com for official updates.  Enjoy!!!!
